Mission Statement:

Greater Boston CISM TeamMission Statement: The Greater Boston CISM Team has been established as a collaboration among multiple Police Departments, Emergency Communications Departments and Professional Staff in the Greater Boston area for the purpose of supporting the officers, dispatchers and other department members within these departments. The mission of the Team is to provide a resource of specially trained peers, clinicians and chaplains who volunteer to make themselves available to respond to critical incidents and offer confidential assistance and support to all Department employees in times of personal need or due to traumatic incidents.

Goals of the Greater Boston CISM Team:

  • The goal of the Team is not a legal inquiry, investigation, or about placing blame in anyway. It is about supporting the personal emotional responses to a traumatic event or incident. During activations of the Team, no notes are taken and recording devices are not allowed.
  • Proactively provide confidential critical incident stress management and educational support necessary to help ensure that all members of the collaborative agencies or any agency that calls and we provide assistance remain productive, optimal functioning and generally healthy.
  • Increase our Team’s capacity through training and education, in accordance with best practices, to enhance the quality of response to those needing services.A multi-disciplined, holistic approach, encompassing emotional, physical, spiritual, social and occupational wellness.

The Greater Boston CISM Team is a member of the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF). Additionally, all our members are educated, trained, and hold certifications and membership through the ICISF
