Information our responding CISM Team needs to know
- Who was affected: officers, dispatchers, detectives, supervisors, non-sworn professional staff, or command staff.
- How many were affected, how many of the above?
- The date, time, and location that are agreed upon for the intervention.
- Location of the intervention. If there is an offsite location, please ensure that it accommodates the group, including the number of CISM team members responding.
- The established POC for the affected department must meet with the team prior to intervention and brief the team regarding the incident.
- POC should set up a room with chairs in a circle and provide light refreshments for all participants.
- POC should ensure that everyone present in the room is the affected homogenous group.
- The POC must leave the room prior to the start of the intervention and should ensure that the process remains private without disruption.
CISM Response
- Team leader will identify themselves at the briefing
- The responding team should have team identification
- Team should be made up of outside peers from a different agency than those department members affected.
